New Post From The Franchise King®

the entrepreneur equation book carol roth

Another one of my Royal Subjects, Barry Moltz, introduced me to Carol Roth about two years ago, and a couple of minutes into our first phone conversation, I knew that I’d found a new friend. But, Carol is more than that. One of the first things I told Carol was that I felt that she was a female version of me. She laughed…

Carol is;

  • Blunt
  • Fearless
  • Opinionated
  • Authentic

So am I. We got along splendidly from the get-go. But, there are a few things we don’t have in common. And, those things trouble me.

I Want What She Has

  • Carol is a great writer. I’m not.
  • Carol is really, really, smart. (Genius-level?)
  • Carol is really good at strategy. I’m not.

I started reading Carol’s book, The Entrepreneur Equation, right around the time Wiley Publishing offered me a book deal.   Which forced me to up my game.   By, “Game“, I’m referring to my book-writing adventure. It’s not like I graduated college with a degree in journalism. As a matter of fact, there’s something I need to tell you.

As soon as I started to read The Entrepreneur Equation, I knew I was in trouble. Bigtrouble. Writing an above-average business book wasn’t going to be an option for this King. Carol’s book is excellent; her book’s excellence turned out to be quite an influence on how I went about writing mine, making sure that I left absolutely nothing out for my readers. And, I can say with 100% certainty, that Carol accepted nothing less than excellence from herself when she wrote her book. How do I know this fact?

I’ve been watching her.

Why Carol Roth Is A Royal Subject

1250.00 Dollars Per Hour

That’s the price of admission to have a one-hour strategy session with Carol.

From CarolRoth.com

“Her experience has encompassed a wide variety of products and services, including initial public offerings (IPOs), secondary offerings, private equity placements, private debt placements, buy-side M&A, sell-side M&A, LBOs/MBOs, recapitalizations, valuations, fairness opinions, licensing, marketing services, franchise work, start-up advisory and general strategic advisory work.”

One more tidbit;

Ms. Roth holds a B.S. Degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, arguably the top business program in the world, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.”

Now, my Latin sucks, but I’m assuming that, “Magnum Cum Laude” means near the top of the class?   Carol’s been very generous with her time…and believe me, I’ve bent her ear a lot. (I would call her more, but my Jewish guilt hits me upside my Crown, so I don’t. Carol is super-busy.) Suffice to say, she’s offered up ideas, and I listen carefully when she does.

Busy Busy

Carol is crazy-busy, but she’s definitely in her element when she is. And, she’s really easy to find these days.

I wish Carol continued success, and another book deal. She’s truly a Royal Subject.
